This course is the second core chapter in the Baduanjin deep teaching series, focusing on the form praised as “the first exercise to open the chest and regulate Qi” — Drawing the Bow to Open the Chest and Strengthen the Lungs. This movement imitates the powerful stance of drawing a bow and shooting an arrow, making it a key exercise to relieve chest tightness, strengthen the shoulders and back, and improve breathing depth.

Through practice, you will experience how a single elegant yet powerful movement can stretch and strengthen muscles while gently regulating internal organ function. This form bridges the first form (“Raising the Hands to Support the Heavens”) with subsequent forms (digestive regulation, Looking Back to Soothe the Neck and Relieve Fatigue and Strain).
Tip: It is recommended to practice this form after mastering the first form. Combined practice creates a perfect “rising and opening” Qi cycle, laying a solid foundation for learning the full Baduanjin set.
